Few states pack in as much live sports and broadcast infrastructure as Florida. With 94 full-power stations spread across 10 media markets and three cities in the national top 20, setting up streaming here comes with more moving parts than most states — but also more free, legal options once you know where to look.

A Sports Fan's State First
Florida hosts more professional teams than nearly any other state: the Dolphins, Buccaneers, and Jaguars (NFL); Heat and Magic (NBA); Marlins and Rays (MLB); Panthers and Lightning (NHL) — plus a genuinely massive college sports following through the Gators, Seminoles, and Hurricanes.
Regionally, most of this is carried by FanDuel Sports Network Florida, headquartered in Fort Lauderdale and covering Miami, Tampa, and Orlando teams under one regional umbrella. Streaming access to it runs through DirecTV Stream and FuboTV. One useful thing to know: Florida's NFL teams air primarily on national broadcast networks (CBS for the Dolphins and Jaguars, FOX for the Buccaneers) rather than being locked behind the RSN — meaning an antenna alone covers a lot of Florida football without any subscription at all. See our RSN blackout guide for how this generally works.

Florida Is Ahead on Next-Generation Broadcast TV
Here's a genuinely forward-looking detail most states don't have yet: as of late 2025, ATSC 3.0 — marketed as "NextGen TV" — is already live in five major Florida markets: Miami-Fort Lauderdale, Tampa-St. Petersburg, Orlando-Daytona Beach, Jacksonville, and West Palm Beach-Fort Pierce, reaching over 80% of the state's population. This newer broadcast standard delivers sharper picture quality and more reliable reception than the older ATSC 1.0 standard most of the country still runs on — worth knowing if you're shopping for a new antenna or TV tuner, since ATSC 3.0 reception may need newer-compatible hardware. Our antenna & OTA guide covers the setup basics either way.
What About Streaming Services?
YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, Fubo, and Sling TV all operate normally across Florida's markets, each delivering local affiliates based on your registered address. Fubo in particular markets itself heavily toward sports-focused households, which lines up well with Florida's team-dense landscape. Movie add-ons (Max, Starz, Showtime) are available through most of these as optional bundles on top of the base live TV package. As always, confirm current local coverage for your specific ZIP code before subscribing — carriage deals shift periodically.
Spanish-Language Broadcasting
South Florida in particular runs one of the country's largest Spanish-language broadcast markets — Miami-Fort Lauderdale carries extensive Univision and Telemundo programming alongside the standard English-language affiliates, reflecting the region's demographics more than almost any other Florida market.
Picking the Right Streaming Device
Device choice doesn't vary by state, but if you haven't settled on one yet, our device comparison guide breaks down Fire TV, Roku, Apple TV, and Google TV. For smooth HD streaming, plan on at least 15–25 Mbps per active stream; 4K needs closer to 25–50 Mbps.
